Committee work and standardisation

Standards establish the basis for reliable and reproducible testing. We are committed to developing appropriate standards.

Thanks to its qualified testing activities and its active collaboration in various standardisation bodies, the Test Laboratory Gas is renowned throughout Europe and always at the cutting edge of technology.

Employees at the Gas Test Laboratory are represented in the following European, international and German committees, among others:

  • CEN/TC 48 (Domestic gas-fired water heaters)
  • CEN/TC 49 (Gas cooking appliances)
  • CEN/TC 58 and ISO TC161 (Safety and control devices for burners and appliances burning gaseous or liquid fuels)
  • CEN/TC 69 (Industrial valves)
  • CEN/TC 106 (Large kitchen appliances using gaseous fuels)
  • CEN/TC 109 (Central heating boilers using gaseous fuels)
  • CEN/TC 180 (Decentralized gas heating)
  • CEN/TC 181 (Appliances and leisure vehicle installations using liquefied petroleum gas and appliances using natural gas for outdoor use)
  • CEN/TC 208 (Elastomeric seals for joints in pipework and pipelines)
  • CEN/TC 234 (Gas infrastructure)
  • CEN/TC 237 (Gas meters)
  • CEN/TC 238 (Test gases, test pressures, appliance categories and gas appliance types)

as well as the German mirror committees of the DIN in the respective standards committees of the NAGAS, NHRS, FNH, NAA, NAW and the DKE as well as the applicable technical committees of the DVGW. 

Moreover, employees of the Gas Test Laboratory are actively involved in European committees associated with the European directives and regulations:

The Gas Test Laboratory is a member of LABTQ, the European Association of Independent Test Laboratories for energy consuming equipment. The LABTQ regularly conducts interlaboratory tests to ensure the reproducibility and accuracy of efficiency and emission measurements.
